Lecco: sports and nature

Lecco gives many chance for sports:  water sports, moutains sports, cycling and golfing too.

Water sports

Windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding and diving. On the Lecco branch of  Lake Como there are many sailing and nautical centers to try these sports. From Mandello del Lario to Colico you can get in touch with the structures to book a sailing test. Don't forget also the many beaches to relax on the shores of the lake in summer, such as Lido di Mandello del Lario.

In Olivedo di Varenna there is also the Bau beach where dogs are admitted and could even take a swim!.

Cycling

From the Kennedy’s bridge in Lecco, a beautiful cycle path of 70 km runs along the Adda river and reaches the Martesana in Milan. During the route you enter the heart of Brianza and go along wonderful corners like the ferry designed by Leonardo at Imbersago. 

In Lecco there is also the Blubike bike sharing service.

Hiking

For those who love hiking and trekking there is a lot of choices in Lecco and its surrounding areas: from the easiest paths (marked with a T or an E) to the more difficult ones (marked with EE or EEA). Among the simplest and most scenic there is the tour of Coltignone at Piani Resinelli in Valsassina or the trip to Piani d'Erna by feet (about 2 hours) or by cableway. Or if you want to see Lecco from above you have to go to Morterone by car and take a two hours walk to the top of Resegone, the mountain symbol of Manzoni's city.

Climbing

There are more than 1200 climbing routes in the province of Lecco, for beginners and experts. You can enjoy a climbing experience by contacting one of the mountain guides in Lombardy.

Winter sports

Downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, skimountaineering and snowshoeing. The Valsassina, the most important mountainous area of this area, offers many possibilities for outdoor activities in winter. The Piani di Bobbio have about ten downhill tracks and also an excellent cross-country ski track. There are also many itineraries for snowshoeing or ski mountaineering from December to February like the classic excursion to Cimone di Margno.

Golf

For lovers of the green there is in Annone a circuit with 18 holes overlooking the Resegone.
